Successful Coordination of Worship during Jane’s sabbatical. The Worship council would like to thank so many people who were instrumental in creating a positive worship experience during Jane’s absence:  the Pastors and Elders who provided care; the Preachers who preached each Sunday; the liturgists, and Elders of the week, and musicians who all added quality to our worship experience; the members of the Worship Council who advised on liturgy; the members of the Sabbatical committee who scheduled it all; the people who came each Sunday to hear something new; Carlos Lara and his family who brought us so much; and last but not least the staff of Debbie and Patti who made sure it all worked seamlessly.

Priorities in 2007:

Installation of new stained glass window

Liturgical arts: specifically banner creation and banner restoration

Continued support of special services

Sunday Worship Attendance in 2006:

In 2006, CHPC averaged 141.0 persons in attendance during worship.  (Attendance counts are the sum of all persons in the sanctuary as well as those in Joyful Noise and in the nursery.)  That’s up by 6.2% from 2005, when the average was 132.8.  In fact, 2005 is the fourth year in a row with gains in attendance, up 10.5% from the average of 127.6 in 2002, and above the 2001 average of 138.5.  The higher average attendance for 2006 is especially noteworthy given Pastor Jane’s absence for three months on sabbatical.

The highest attendance of the year was on 228 on April 16—Easter.  Next was 189 on December 10, the second Sunday in Advent.  The low for the year, and the only Sunday with fewer than 100 in attendance, was November 26, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, with only 96 present.  Interestingly, the lowest attendance during Jane’s sabbatical was 107 on June 16, her first Sunday away.

The Christmas Eve candlelight service (not shown in the graph) had an attendance of 200.  The average for the six Sundays in Lent was 151.3; for the four Sundays in Advent, 163.0.
