Pastor Task Force

[The Staff Relations Committee believes a task force that represents session, deacons and the councils can produce a priority list of pastoral duties that will enable Jane to reduce her workload to 40 hours per week by focusing on the highest priorities and tending to the lower priorities only as time allows.] This statement was not completely known to the council, but we discussed the ways that Jane works with and on behalf of the Outreach Council.

Bruce nominated Marcus to represent the Outreach council. Marcus accepted, although he understood that this was to be a “one only meeting” with Jane. If this is not the case another representative might be needed.

Meeting new members

Due to the recent SIDS death of the grandchild of a new member, Marcus suggested that Outreach make certain to get to know our members, especially new ones.

All who are able should attend the funeral at CHPC on Friday, April 13 to show solidarity with our new member and her family. Outreach should do better meeting others.

Hospitality training

Marcus reminded us that we agreed on hosting a Hospitality Training program such as the one led by Marian McClure. He has Marian’s notes and we still need to determine who will lead the program and when it should be held.

It was agreed that the best time would be this fall at a date to be determined.

African women items sale

The French Outreach Ministry would like CHPC to allow African women to sell their made items in conjunction with the PW Mothers Day card sale. The discussion centered on what impact the selling of gifts might make on card sales.

Chris moved and Bruce seconded to support this sale to session. All agreed that this year it should be allowed, and that the impact should be compared with previous sales. Specific dates would probably be 4/29, 5/6 and 5/13.

Pentecost offering

We discussed how we have used the local percentage of the offering in the past, and how we might spend it this year. A decision will be made later.

Bob volunteered to take the lead on the offering.

Anamchara

Bill raised the issue of Outreach’s relationship to the Anamchara congregation in regard to their request of a more permanent sign.

All agreed that Outreach continues to have a commitment to Anamchara but has no position in the question of a new sign.

Bread for the World

Izzy asked if we could change our decision on removing BFTW funds from the Outreach 2012 budget. She and Bob felt that it was not appropriate to stop our connection. CHPC had sent a member with our blessings to be the director.

Bill suggested that since an Outreach member had already sent a personal check for the entire funds that CHPC would have paid for the year, we should bring the question back when we deal with the 2013 budget. Bill moved and Bob seconded that CHPC show our continuation of support with a “handing of letters” in this July or August. Motion passed.

Outreach council will meet again Wednesday 5/09/2012
